Although the Midwest and Northeast are currently being gripped by (hopefully) the last gasp of winter the annual southern biker pilgrimages are here. It’s a tough ride until you get to North Carolina and even then I wouldn’t say it’s comfortable but thankfully bearable. Any bikers riding the distance are certainly hardy. Even Daytona is unpleasantly cool at night and the moist ocean breeze during the day chills you to the bone so you’ll definitely need the proper riding gear. You will see many a cruiser with stuffed saddlebags and piled to the hilt with motorcycle luggage to hold the extra riding gear needed to maintain comfort and safety for the trip through several climate zones.face=”Times New Roman”>There has been quite a bit of thought put in to the development and design of motorcycle luggage and today’s biker luggage accessories are state-of-the-art. It has never been so easy to take off on a long jaunt and easily have enough storage capacity to enjoy the week with fresh changes of clothing throughout the week.I like the new modular stackable cycle luggage the attachés to the sissy-bar or luggage rack. I’ve got a 7 piece Buffalo Leather Motorcycle Luggage set that changes my bike from a boulevard cruiser into a full fledged touring bike in minutes. It has 14″ x 10″ x 5-1/4″ pair of saddlebags, 9-1/4″ x 6″ x 2-1/2″ windshield bag, 10″ x 5″ x 2″ tool bag, 7-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ x 3″ sissy bar bag, 14-3/4″ x 9-3/4″ x 9-3/4″ barrel bag, and 11″ x 14″ x 4-3/4″ backpack all engineered to mount and dismount with ease.I have no worries of loosing any unmentionables into the breeze and they make for a very comfortable back rest too. I generally wear a helmet except for cruising around town and the barrel bag is nice to keep along just to hold the half helmet and leather motorcycle jacket if I need them, want to take a poker run or venture into a municipality that may require a helmet (Like in Myrtle Beach).I also like them because they keep everything centered, balanced and tucked out of the wind currents. They just make for a more enjoyable riding experience. Plus they throw nicely into my trunk. You’d think with the extra padding each year adds to my butt would make these Iron Butt runs a little easier. Next year I’m going to tow!!
