I tend to travel pretty light when I take my motorcycle out for an extended trip. After all, if I wanted to bring everything including the kitchen sink with me, I’d drive an RV instead of a hog. Usually two motorcycle saddlebags are enough to hold everything I need for a week.
My motorcycle saddlebags checklist includes extra money, a first aid kit, extra sunglasses, two spare t-shirts, and one spare pair of pants. If it’s getting cooler out I might also pack a sweatshirt. I carry a small, efficient sleeping bag so I can camp out wherever I like. I don’t worry too much about food as I typically stop at diners along the way; a few power bars and a water bottle suffice.
